Green juice

I seem to be having a particularly active day whereby a portion of it was spent at the gym. This inspired me to make the most of this day and dedicate it to my well-being. I did this by indulging in creating my very own green juice.
I generally steer clear from this sort of thing because they generally taste bland – or worse, so I decided that if I am going to be trying this out I might as well make it taste delicious so that I can drink it happily.
This recipe produced a juice that was a perfect amount of sweet, and a perfect size for one person to drink.

– two apples, washed and peeled

– half a cucumber, washed

– a teaspoon of lemon juice

– half a cup of cold water

– a teaspoon of desiccated coconut

1. Roughly chop apples and cucumber and place into blender.

2. Add lemon juice and water.

3. Blend.

4. Pour into glass and sprinkle coconut over.

Benefits of the ingredients used:
– apples: rich in antioxidants

– cucumbers: rehydrated your body and replenishes daily vitamins

– lemon: contains nourishing elements such as vitamins C and A

– coconut: rich in minerals

All the more reason to try it out!

Victoria’s Secret

Hi girls!

I haven’t written in a while but all that is about to change! Today turned out to be a Victoria’s Secret inspired day – purely because I was showered with not one, but TWO, gorgeous gift bags with even cooler gifts! This post relates to the first Victoria’s Secret gift I received today.

The bag itself was a gift on it’s own. I colours of pink, white and black, being the brand’s signature, add to the excitement of having Victoria’s Secret products, even before you look inside.

The gift box was pink with silver stars thrown all over. The out part of the box on the right and left was wrapped in red bows which was great so I was thrilled about that.

The gift box had none other than the Temptation fragrance mist and the Temptation fragrance lotion. I test tried them and they smell great. It’s a perfect size to buy as a gift and if you look closely, it’s set in a pink shimmery box which is the cherry on top for those of you who, like me, like things pink and shimmery!

Then, of course, when you look closely into the gift bag, in pink, the classic ‘love, Victoria’ is written followed by a pink heart.

Ah, bless.

Yum! Banana cupcakes

I haven’t baked anything for so long and I’ve been yearning to do it, so now that I had some time on my hands to procrastinate, I decided that today was the day! I chose to bake delicious banana cupcakes with frosting as my topping.

For the cupcakes:

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon fine salt
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon sugar
  • ½ cup butter – softened
  • ½ cup granulated brown sugar
  • ¼ cup low fat yoghurt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large ripe bananas – peeled and mashed

For the frosting:

  • ¼ cup butter – softened
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

For the cupcakes:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Line a cupcake tray with paper holders.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugar on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  4. Add in yoghurt, vanilla essence and eggs. Mix until combined smoothly.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix until it is just combined.
  6. Fold in the mashed bananas until it is well incorporated into the mixture.
  7. Using two spoons, drop the mixture into the paper cupcake liners.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes.

For the frosting:

  1. Add butter, sugar and vanilla essence and beat until well combined and stiff.
  2. Add frosting to piping bag and pip accordingly with the nozzle of your choice!

Yum! Salad

I decided to have a delicious light salad for dinner this evening!

-baby spinach leaves

-orange slices

-diced plums

-feta cheese

-pink rose petals
I highly recommend a salad like this for a light dinner! It keeps you full and it’s pretty delicious!

Yum! Sushi

My sister and I decided to have sushi for lunch, so we hopped in the car and took a leisurely drive to the restaurant.

First, we ordered sweet corn cakes – they were sweet (of course) and deep fried. It came with a sweet sauce to add to the fried effect that the sweet corn cakes were. Little carrot sticks were used as a garnish.

We then ordered a sushi platter to share. This came really neatly plated, and the pink ginger added to the girly sushi date ambience we had going on. The platter included prawns, salmon roses and caviar. The wasabi and soy sauce always adds to flavour that wouldn’t otherwise be experienced with sushi on its own.

To end off, we ordered a tempura fried prawns sushi which included rice, sesame seeds, deep fried tempura prawns, spring onions, mayo and avocado topped with caviar. This was certainly the highlight of the sushi today!

Of course, my enjoyment of sushi has been reignited.

Yum! Strawberry cheesecake

Today I decided to scroll through Pinterest and pick a recipe to try. I came across a no-bake strawberry cheesecake. My sister and I drove around to buy the ingredients and a few hours later I was in the kitchen ready to begin!

It was a fairly easy recipe. It took about 45 minutes to complete the whole thing.

First, I crushed Tennis biscuits until they were just a little rough, adeed melted butter and sugar, then placed it in a baking pan. I then flattened it all the way to the bottom and to the sides. It was then placed in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set.

I had to whip together sugar and cream cheese, and then fold it into heavy cream which I had to whip until it formed soft peaks.

I bought strawberries for the actual mixture and raspberries to decorate the finished product.

After I puréed the strawberries in a food processor, I gently folded it into the mixture of cream. It was a lovely pastel pink colour.

Thereafter, I poured the strawbery infused cream mix into the biscuit crust that was setting. I then placed the final product in the freezer fo several hours.

As everyone sat down for dinner, I took the strawberry cheesecake out of the freezer and began to garnish it with raspberries.

And voila!

Yum! Choc sticks

Two things that work really well together: preztzels and chocolate! The combination is really good, and it’s something I usually take care to buy every now and then for a delicious treat!

You can source them at your local vendor. They’re great to wrap up in a little pink bow, or even have in a little vase making it easier for someone to pick one out.
